Punjab Pensioners Union Amritsar Holds Strong Protest Meet

Punjab Pensioners Union Amritsar Raises Pension Issues

Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): The Punjab Pensioners Union Amritsar Protest Meeting took place at Company Bagh, Amritsar, under the leadership of Sathi Jarnail Singh Dhillon. The meeting addressed several key issues related to pensions, dearness allowance (DA), and government policies affecting employees and retired staff.

Criticism Over Delay in DA Installments

During the meeting, Sathi Sucha Singh Ajnala strongly criticized the Punjab government. He said the government has failed to release pending DA installments to employees and pensioners.

He added that the government’s decision to challenge court orders shows an anti-employee approach. According to him, this reflects unfair treatment of both workers and pensioners.

He also said that even poor workers are facing financial pressure due to delayed benefits.

Punjab Pensioners Union Amritsar: Concerns Over Workers and Welfare Policies

The Punjab Pensioners Union Amritsar Protest Meeting highlighted wider concerns about labour welfare policies.

Speakers said that Bhatha workers have been excluded from benefits, which has increased dissatisfaction among labour groups. They alleged that policies are not supporting low-income workers.

They further said that inflation and delayed payments have made life difficult for retired employees.

Demand for Old Pension Scheme Restoration

Union leaders strongly demanded restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.

They also demanded revision of pay scales with a 2.59 multiplier. Leaders said these demands are essential for financial security of employees and pensioners.

They warned that if issues remain unresolved, the union will intensify its protest in the coming months.

Delay in Pension Payments Raises Concern
