Illegal Property of Drug Smuggler Demolished in Amritsar Under Anti-Drug Drive

Amritsar Drug Smuggler Illegal Property Demolished

Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the ongoing anti-drug drive campaign has intensified in Amritsar as the Municipal Corporation demolished an illegally property acquired linked to a notorious drug smuggler in the Makboolpura area, known for its vulnerability to narcotics-related activities.

The demolished property belonged to Surinder Kaur alias Swinder Kaur, a resident of Gali No. 12, Makboolpura, who is currently lodged in jail and faces multiple cases under the NDPS Act. According to officials, she has a long history of involvement in drug trafficking, with several FIRs registered against her over the years. She has also been convicted in at least one major case, resulting in a 10-year imprisonment along with a monetary penalty.

Authorities stated that the demolition was carried out following due legal procedures, targeting assets acquired through illegal drug trade. Officials emphasized that such strict actions are part of a zero-tolerance policy adopted by the Punjab Government to dismantle the financial backbone of drug networks operating in the state.

The move comes under the state-wide anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” which aims not only to curb drug supply but also to break the nexus of traffickers by seizing and destroying properties built through illicit earnings. Senior officials reiterated that similar actions will continue across Punjab against repeat offenders and organized drug syndicates.

Police data revealed that between January 1 and April 27, 2026, a total of 634 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act in the district, leading to the arrest of 1,081 individuals. Major recoveries include over 40.021 kilograms of heroin, 8.093 kilograms of opium, 1.438 kilograms of methamphetamine (ICE), and more than 22,000 intoxicant capsules and tablets. Additionally, drug money worth over ₹18.87 lakh and 21 vehicles have been seized during various operations.

Officials further informed that alongside enforcement, rehabilitation efforts are also being strengthened. Hundreds of individuals have been admitted to de-addiction and OOAT (Opioid Agonist Treatment) centers, highlighting the government’s dual approach of strict law enforcement and social rehabilitation.

Authorities have appealed to the public to actively support the anti-drug movement by sharing information about drug trafficking and gang activities. Citizens can contact the Punjab Police Anti-Drug Helpline (97791-00200) and Anti-Gangster Helpline (93946-93946 via call or WhatsApp). Officials assured that all information will be kept strictly confidential, and informants may receive rewards of up to ₹10 lakh for credible inputs leading to arrests.

The Punjab Government has reiterated its commitment to making the state drug-free and ensuring a safer environment for future generations through continuous enforcement, awareness, and community participation.
