Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): A resident of Amritsar has alleged a fraud of ₹6 lakh after being promised a job and accommodation abroad for his son. The complainant, Gurabachan Singh of village Ghukewali Guru Ka Bagh, has submitted a written complaint to the Police Commissioner, demanding legal action against the accused.
According to Gurabachan Singh, a resident of Loharka Road allegedly promised to arrange permanent employment and accommodation for his son, Manpreet Singh, in Romania. Lured by these assurances, the family paid ₹6 lakh to the accused.
He further stated that before sending his son abroad, the accused had assured that if he failed to settle him in Romania, the entire amount would be refunded. However, after reaching abroad, Manpreet Singh was neither provided a job nor accommodation and was left stranded.
Gurabachan Singh claimed that his son struggled for nearly a month and had to be sent ₹60,000 to manage his return to India. He eventually returned home after facing severe difficulties.
The complainant also alleged that the accused is now refusing to return the money and has been issuing threats of harm and false legal cases.
Supporting the victim, Dr. Harish Sharma, President of the International Human Rights Struggle Committee, said such immigration fraud cases are increasingly being reported in media. He warned that if timely action is not taken, they may be forced to stage a protest outside the accused’s residence.
He also stated that any untoward incident during such protests would be the responsibility of the police administration.
Rajbir and Gurmeet Kaur were also present during the complaint submission.
