Amritsar (Suraj kamlesh): The ninth martyrdom anniversary of Inspector Raghbir Singh, a President’s Gallantry Medal awardee from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 74th Battalion, was solemnly observed at Shaheedan Sahib Gurdwara in village Sathiala.
The tribute ceremony was jointly presided over by his son, Tehsildar Amritbir Singh, and National Awardee Dr. Paramjit Singh Kalsi. Baba Lakhbir Singh, Mukhhi Misal Shaheedan Tarna Dal, and Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh from CRPF Group Centre Jalandhar attended as chief guests.
Family members of the martyr, including his wife Baljit Kaur, daughter Simranjit Kaur, sister Surjit Kaur, brothers Kuldeep Singh and Harjinder Singh, along with several relatives and dignitaries, paid homage. Families of other martyrs and prominent social figures also attended the event.
The ceremony began with soulful kirtan by Hazuri Raagis from Baba Bakala Sahib, creating a spiritual atmosphere.
Addressing the gathering, Baba Lakhbir Singh said that while death is inevitable, those who sacrifice their lives for the nation become immortal. He urged people to follow righteous paths and contribute towards building an ideal society inspired by such brave martyrs.
Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh stated that Inspector Raghbir Singh remains a source of pride for CRPF and continues to inspire soldier. He highlighted that the brave officer volunteered for operations and served with exceptional courage. He assured the family that CRPF stands firmly with them.
Kunwar Ravinder Singh Vicky, General Secretary of Shaheed Sainik Parivar Suraksha Parishad, recalled the bravery of the martyr during an operation in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, where he fought against Naxalites until his last breath despite severe injuries, sacrificing his life along with 25 fellow soldier.
Dr. Paramjit Singh Kalsi expressed gratitude to the attendees and said that martyrs like Inspector Raghbir Singh are invaluable assets of the nation. He emphasized the importance of preserving their legacy for future generations.
During the event, shawls and mementos were presented to the martyr’s family and families of other fallen soldiers. Additionally, three meritorious students, a young sportsperson, and a singer were honored with cash prizes, certificates, and siropas by the martyr’s family.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of several social workers, writers, and community leaders who came together to pay tribute to the braveheart.
