CITU Amritsar plans strike, announces May Day rally

Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): A meeting of the district unit of the Tana Bharti Workers Union (CITU) was held at the CITU office in Putlighar under the chairmanship of Comrade Ashok Kumar.

While addressing the meeting, Comrade Sucha Singh Ajnala emphasized the crucial role of Tana Bharti workers, stating that if they stop working, factories would come to a halt. He urged workers to consider going on strike to demand an increase in wage rates.

He also stressed that the union membership drive should be completed by April 30.

Announcing the plans for International Labour Day, he said a large rally will be held on May 1 at Naiyan Wala Mor, Dubai Road Sabzi Mandi. Members of all organizations affiliated with CITU are expected to participate.

Leaders added that on International Workers’ Day, tributes will be paid to martyrs, and workers will take a pledge to intensify their struggle to safeguard their rights.

Several union members attended the meeting, including District President Comrade Charanjit Singh Majitha, Kirpa Ram, Vijay Kumar, Gurdeep Singh Batala, Balbir Singh (Kot Khalsa), Dharampal, Suraj, Satnam Singh, Lucky, Ramesh Kumar, Bablu, Madan Lal, Shiv Kumar, and others.
