Bajwa Targets AAP, Calls Internal Rift a Fight for Power

Bajwa Says AAP Rift Exposes Power Struggle in Punjab

Chandigarh: Highlighting internal conflicts within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday said that the ongoing split in the Rajya Sabha has exposed the true face of the party.

Bajwa stated that the crisis is not ideological but rather a result of an internal struggle for control over Punjab’s resources and public funds. He claimed that recent developments have confirmed concerns that AAP’s politics in Punjab has been driven more by access to state power than governance.

He further said, “What is unfolding is not a clash of principles, but a battle for power, patronage, and money.”

Referring to the internal rift, Bajwa said it was ironic that Raghav Chadha had reportedly refused to be part of alleged irregular practices within the party, while Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann claimed that Chadha and others left because they were not allowed to engage in corruption. He said, “When both sides are accusing each other of corruption, the truth becomes evident.”

According to Bajwa, this clearly shows that the issue was never about ideology but about systematic misuse of Punjab’s resources and state treasury.

He also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) played a role in “trading political mandates,” and claimed that central investigative agencies were used to gather information about alleged illegal wealth, which was then used as a tool of pressure rather than for ensuring justice.

Bajwa raised concerns over alleged misuse of enforcement agencies, stating that the public demands accountability rather than politically motivated selective action.

In contrast, he said, the Indian National Congress has always upheld democratic values, transparency, and accountability. He added that if voted to power in 2027, the Congress would ensure a fair and detailed investigation into all acts of commission and omission, and hold the guilty accountable under the law.

He concluded that Punjab now needs stability, honesty, and leadership that prioritizes public interest over political opportunism, as people are witnessing the collapse of a model that was once projected as honest and reform-driven but is now mired in internal conflict and serious allegations.
