CBI Arrests Tis Hazari Court Reader in Bribery Case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested a court reader working in the chamber of an Additional Sessions Judge at the Tis Hazari Court Complex in a bribery case.

According to officials, the accused had allegedly demanded ₹30,000 from a lawyer in exchange for facilitating a favourable outcome in his client’s bail application.

A CBI spokesperson stated that the accused, working as a reader in ASJ-02 court, was caught red-handed while accepting ₹20,000 as part of the bribe amount. The agency confirmed that the complaint was acted upon immediately, leading to a successful trap operation.

The total bribe amount involved in the case was ₹30,000, out of which ₹20,000 was allegedly accepted at the time of arrest.

Officials said the prompt action was taken after receiving a complaint, ensuring swift intervention and prevention of further corruption-related activity.

The arrest is being seen as part of CBI’s ongoing efforts to enhance transparency within the judicial system and curb corruption in public institutions.
