Rohit Thakur Attends Jaga Mata Temple Event in Jubbal

Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): Education Minister Rohit Thakur attended the consecration ceremony of the newly renovated Jaga Mata Temple at Kot Kaina Panchayat in Jubbal Sub-Division today. On this auspicious occasion, he extended warm greetings to all devotees and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the region.

He said that the region is famously known as “Devbhoomi” (Land of Gods), where every place, object, and element is believed to be blessed by deities. He also highlighted the rich cultural heritage associated with local deities, which continues to give the region a unique identity across the world.

Calling upon the youth, the Education Minister emphasized the importance of staying connected to cultural roots while also keeping pace with the modern world. He said this balance is essential for preserving the glorious traditions and passing them on to future generations.

During his address, he shared details of ongoing development works in Kot Kaina Panchayat. He informed that ₹15.29 lakh has been sanctioned for the renovation of the Jaga Mata Temple. In addition, six new roads have been constructed in the Panchayat during the present government’s tenure, with an expenditure of ₹4.30 crore. In the Bushahr region, 18 new roads have also been built.

He further stated that the Primary Health Centre at Jharg has been constructed at a cost of ₹1.56 crore, while the Government Senior Secondary School building at Sari is under construction with an investment of ₹2.38 crore. A NABARD-funded road project from Harijan Basti Mandhol to Shelapani Johata is also in progress.

Highlighting broader development in Jubbal-Nawar-Kotkhai, he said that unprecedented progress has been made in the last three years. A total of 175 new roads have been constructed, the highest in the state. A Teacher Training Centre near Dakead village is being built at a cost of ₹17 crore. The establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kotkhai has already begun academic operations this session.

He also emphasized the government’s commitment to sports development. At present, nine sports hostels are operational across the state. The Thakur Ram Lal Girls Sports Hostel has emerged as the largest, offering training in volleyball, kabaddi, and badminton, with boxing soon to be added. A new hostel building has been constructed at a cost of ₹2.27 crore to improve facilities for girl athletes.

Several dignitaries including Yashwant Chajta, Rupinder Dhalta, Kailash Manta, Ramkrishan Chauhan, and other local representatives were present on the occasion.
