Punjab Cabinet Approves Key Decisions, Farmers Get Relief for De-Silting in Flood-Hit Areas

Punjab Cabinet OKs De-Silting Relief for Farmers

Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, took several key decisions during its latest meeting aimed at improving administrative efficiency and providing relief to farmers affected by floods.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema shared details of the decisions. He announced that jurisdictional changes have been made across six districts to streamline administrative functioning and enhance governance.

One of the major decisions focuses on relief for flood-affected regions. Cheema stated that the state government has approved the process of de-silting to help farmers restore their agricultural land. Farmers in affected areas will now be allowed to carry out de-silting work after obtaining necessary permissions from the administration.

He also criticized the central government, stating that no compensation has yet been provided for flood-related damages, forcing the state government to take independent measures to support affected communities.

The move is expected to provide immediate relief to farmers struggling with silt accumulation in their fields due to floods, helping them resume agricultural activities more efficiently.

The cabinet decisions reflect the state government’s focus on improving governance and addressing ground-level issues, particularly in rural and agriculture-dependent regions.
