Shimla: The Students Federation of India (SFI), Himachal Pradesh State Committee, expressed deep sorrow over the daylight murder of 19-year-old student and SFI activist Siya Guleria in Gopalpur, Sarkaghat. The organization held a condolence meeting and demanded strict action against the accused.
Siya Guleria, a resident of Nain village in Sarkaghat and a first-year BBA student, was reportedly attacked while she was on her way to appear for an examination. According to reports, a drunk individual attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in her death. The incident has shocked the entire region and raised serious concerns over law and order in the state.
Addressing the condolence meeting, SFI State President Anil Thakur demanded immediate compensation of ₹10 lakh for the victim’s family from the state government. He also urged authorities to take full responsibility for the education of Siya’s younger sister.
The SFI further emphasized the need for strict action against the growing drug menace in the state and stronger measures for women’s safety. The organization stated that rising drug abuse, unemployment, and lack of opportunities are contributing to worsening social conditions.
SFI also highlighted that the drug problem is not only a law and order issue but a serious socio-economic crisis that requires coordinated efforts. It called for stronger action against drug mafias, better employment opportunities for youth, and large-scale awareness campaigns.
Condemning the crime, the organization demanded the harshest punishment for the accused and reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the bereaved family and continue its fight for justice.
