On the occasion of Himachal Day 2026, district police officers and personnel were honored for their bravery, professionalism, intelligence, and exceptional dedication to duty. The awards were presented by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, recognizing their significant contributions toward strengthening law and order and advancing the mission of a “Drug-Free Himachal.”
Inspector Ashish Kaushal was specially acknowledged for his outstanding performance in anti-narcotics operations. In 2026 alone, under his leadership, police recovered 627.25 grams of heroin, 2.556 kg of cannabis (charas), and 127.90 grams of opium, leading to 28 criminal cases being registered. On March 10, 2026, his team arrested two accused linked to an inter-district drug network in the BCS area of New Shimla and recovered 11.570 grams of LSD (562 stamps), marking a major breakthrough against synthetic drugs.
Head Constable Jagdish Singh demonstrated remarkable alertness on March 24, 2026, when he recovered 288 grams of heroin from a suspect at the busy ISBT Shimla area. The action, taken in a crowded public space, was considered a strong blow against drug trafficking and helped protect youth from its harmful effects.
In another major operation, Head Constable Piyush Raj seized approximately 11.5 kg of opium and ₹12 lakh in illegal cash from four accused during patrolling in the Narkanda area on April 10, 2026. This operation significantly disrupted an organized trafficking network and its financial structure.
Police Driver Constable Satpal showed exceptional courage on March 31, 2026, by jumping into the Sutlej River to save a woman’s life. He rescued her under dangerous conditions, administered CPR, and ensured her safe transfer to a hospital, showcasing the humanitarian side of police service.
Traffic Wing Constable Shubham, posted in Shimla, was also appreciated for his efficient traffic management at busy locations like Victory Tunnel. He has been actively assisting school children, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals, setting an example of people-friendly policing.
