Jalandhar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted an early morning raid at the residence of Ashok Mittal, a Rajya Sabha Member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in Jalandhar.
According to sources, ED teams have been carrying out searches at Mittal’s residence since morning. Officials are reportedly examining documents as well as electronic devices as part of the ongoing investigation. However, the agency has not yet issued any official statement regarding the specific case linked to the raid.
Ashok Mittal recently made headlines after being appointed as the Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha by AAP, replacing Raghav Chadha. The timing of the ED action, coming shortly after his appointment, has added political significance to the development.
Following the raid, political reactions have intensified. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann strongly reacted to the development and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of targeting AAP leaders ahead of elections.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he alleged that the BJP has begun preparations for upcoming Punjab elections and termed the ED raids as “Modi-style action.”
The investigation by the agency is still underway, and further details regarding the case are expected to emerge in the coming days.
