Dehra Baisakhi Fair Cultural Night Inaugurated by MLA

Dehra: The second cultural evening of the state-level Kalinath Kaleshwar Baisakhi Fair was inaugurated on Tuesday by Dehra MLA Kamlesh Thakur with traditional rituals and enthusiasm.

On the occasion, the MLA first offered prayers at the Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar Temple, seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the state and the region. Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Surender Singh Mankotia honored her with a shawl, cap, and memento.

Addressing the gathering, Kamlesh Thakur said that fairs and festivals are an integral part of Himachal Pradesh’s identity and reflect its rich cultural heritage. She emphasized that such events not only preserve traditions but also promote brotherhood and social harmony.

Describing the Baisakhi fair at the sacred land of Kaleshwar Mahadev as a unique blend of faith and celebration, she said the state government is continuously working towards the preservation and promotion of local culture. She also urged the youth to stay connected with their cultural roots.

The MLA announced that the fair will be organized on a grander scale next year to promote tourism and entertainment along with religious significance. She also highlighted efforts to give wider recognition to the historic Kaleshwar Temple, believed to be linked to the Mahabharata era. Additionally, she announced a grant of ₹2 lakh for the successful organization of the fair.

The cultural night witnessed a lively atmosphere as renowned folk singer Kuldeep Sharma, popularly known as the “Nati King,” mesmerized the audience with his popular Himachali Nati performances and songs. Other artists including Nitish Mehra, Sunil Masti, Sajan Atwal, Deepak Soni, and Gaurav Pathania also delivered impressive performances.

Local artists were also given a platform to showcase their talent, adding to the vibrancy of the event.
