Acting on strict directions to eliminate the drug mafia, a joint operation was carried out by Amritsar Rural Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) under the leadership of Suheel Mir, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar Rural.

During the operation, police from Gharinda Police Station, along with BSF officials, arrested two accused — Karnail Singh alias Karan and Harpreet Singh alias Happy, residents of Dhanoe Kalan — and recovered 750 grams of heroin along with a mobile phone from their possession.

According to official information, a secret tip-off revealed that the accused were allegedly procuring heroin from Pakistan and supplying it to various districts across Punjab. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended both individuals near the Defence Drain and seized the contraband.

In this regard, FIR No. 49 dated 12.02.2026 has been registered at Gharinda Police Station under Sections 21(C), 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated.

Police officials stated that a detailed probe is underway to uncover the forward and backward linkages of the accused. Authorities have affirmed that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in the drug trafficking network.

The Amritsar Rural Police reiterated their firm commitment to cracking down on narcotics smuggling and ensuring a drug-free Punjab.
