The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has announced that 444 flights are expected to be cancelled today due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, leading to significant airspace restrictions across parts of the Middle East.
In a social media update, the Ministry stated that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is working closely with airlines to ensure passenger safety and compliance with operational regulations.
According to MoCA, 410 flights were cancelled yesterday because of airspace curbs over Iran and surrounding regions. With the situation remaining volatile, an estimated 444 flights are likely to be cancelled today. Passengers have been strongly advised to check their flight status with respective airlines before heading to airports.
The Ministry further said that major airports across the country are on operational alert to handle possible route diversions and manage passenger assistance efficiently. Senior officials have been deployed on the ground to oversee airline coordination, terminal crowd management, and overall operations.
MoCA’s Passenger Assistance Control Room continues to monitor concerns raised by travelers and ensure swift resolution. The Ministry highlighted that its AirSewa platform recorded 216 complaints yesterday, of which 105 were resolved promptly to support affected passengers.
With regional geopolitical tensions impacting international flight paths, aviation authorities are closely monitoring developments and coordinating with global aviation bodies to minimize disruptions while prioritizing safety.
