₹2.07 Crore Embezzlement in PSPCL Ludhiana Division, JE Booked

PSPCL Scam JE Booked for ₹2 Cr Misappropriation

Ludhiana: A shocking case of alleged embezzlement has surfaced in Ludhiana, raising serious concerns over transparency and accountability in government departments.

The case involves the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), where discrepancies worth crores of rupees were discovered in the Sarinh (Alamgir) sub-division during an internal audit.

According to officials, a major mismatch was found between the stock records and the actual material available in the store. The audit revealed that government material worth approximately ₹2.07 crore was missing.

The accused, identified as Junior Engineer Tanuj Sarinh, was posted in the sub-division and is suspected of misappropriating materials over a period from 2021–22 to 2024–25.

Assistant Executive Engineer Kamaljit Singh filed a formal complaint with the police, stating that the employee had failed to account for the missing stock for a prolonged period. Once it became clear that the discrepancy could not be justified, legal action was initiated.

Based on the complaint, police at Dehlon police station have registered a case against the accused under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police officials confirmed that raids are being conducted to arrest the accused, and further investigation is underway. Authorities have also indicated that the case may not be limited to a single individual, and the role of other employees is being examined.

The incident has once again highlighted serious lapses in monitoring and accountability within government departments, with many now awaiting further revelations from the ongoing investigation.
